Problem with Asset Revaluation AR29

Hi Gurus,

 

Could you please help me with this issue on Asset Revaluation AR29 where when I execute the AR29, I get the result as  No records selected.

I have this Asset which was Purchase used.

 

We want to create the depreciation area 05 in the system for this asset through Transaction AR29 ( in the background ) , but unfortunately it does not work .

 

This is the first transferred investment in this financial year . In the previous fiscal year it worked without problems .

 

In this company code, they take the setting as fiscal year + 2 years always.

The original asset was capitalized on 01.03.2008 and hence the depreciation was charged on this asset from that time and according to that the useful life has already expired resulting in the current book value of asset as 0 and now no depreciation is planned.

So is this not possible to do the  revaluation of an asset and create depreciation area 05 for an asset which has 0 value with no depreciation planned.  It works fine for the asset which were purchased new, have book value and depreciation being charged currently.

New Dep Area not showing dep on specific company code

Dear All,

 

We assigned new depreciation area 05 to the existing chart of depreciation (There are two company codes under this chart of depreciation)

In AW01N, We can see depreciation under depreciation area 05 in Company code A's assets but we can not see see depreciation under depreciation area 05 in Company code B's assets.

 

I checked all settings including account determination ,everything looks OK but unable to figure out  what is causing for above issue. Could someone throw light on this ?

I got the above mentioned error when I try to assign company code to chart of depreciation.

 

Kindly note that I am working in S4Hana system.

 

I copy chart of depreciation for Malaysia.

Asset Depreciation Key, Useful Life, Depreciation Expense, Depreciated Too Early

Hi Folks,

 

I hope all is well. Your CSUS College Student back at it again with another question. I work for the State too and they messed up their Depreciation Key when creating Assets. Now, I have to figure out how to fix deprecation for Assets.

 

Originally Assets were created with Depreication key LINR. LINR, regardless of the month that the Asset is purchased in, depreciates the first year in full and then uses the straightline method to calculate deprecation moving forward.

 

We updated the configuation and changed the deprecation key to ZINA, ZINA uses the straightline method from the month that the Asset was purchased and depreciates it monthly using the straightline method. This is what we want.

 

So, 1 solution is to Retire all of the Assets that have the LINR deprecation key and do a complex posting to the new assets using the ZINA deprecation key. However, this process was ruled out. We don't want to retire the Assets to fix them.

 

Now, we have Assets that have Depreciated too much. And, we have Assets that have fully depreciated when in actuality they still have a useful life. So, my question is how do we debit the asset (GL 2349009700) and credit Depreciation Expense (9033245118).

 

For Example: Asset 9700000000, Capitalized on 6/15/2012 for $6,245.79 with a 3 year useful life is fully depreciated. The correct useful life is 10 years. So, this Asset is not supposed to fully depreciate until 6/1/2022. As of today it should have 74 more months before it fully depreciates and it should be depreciating at 52.04825 on a monthly basis (6,245.79 divided by 120 months). How do I post $3,851.57 (74 months * 52.05) back to the Asset so it can continue depreciating at the normal monthly rate?

LSMW for ABUMN (Asset Transfer) does not save

Hi Folks,

 

I hope all is well. I am a student at California State University of Sacramento and I am learning a lot about SAP. Fortunately, they offer SAP classes and I work in the Public Sector which also uses SAP. However, I am stumped and was hoping someone could guide me in the right direction.

 

Background story of the situation is this: I had created assets that were hitting the wrong G/L Account (2310) for Asset class 7000 / 7100  and I needed to break them down to lower GL accounts (2411 and 2414). So, I created new asset classes 7200, 7210, 7300, and 7310 pointing to the relative G/L Accounts. I need to transfer 23,000 Asset from asset Class 7000/7100 to 7200/7210 or 7300/7310.

 

So, to make the transfer I am using transaction code ABUMN - Transfer within company code. When I do this, everything transfers over correctly. However, I have to manaully do this 23,000~ times. So, I created an LSMW to mass create the assets. So, now i have 23,000~ unposted assets that I have created to replace the original assets and I want to use the LSMW to do the transfers. However, whenever I go through the LSMW Recording and I click "SAVE" nothing happens. It does not take me back to my main screen to upload to file and continue with the mass transfer.

 

So, I don't need help with using the LSMW or how it works, but I need help figuring out why ABUMN doens't save during the recording. I know that ABUMN does two things. 1) It retires the original assets and 2) it transfers the values to the new asset. So, ABUMN is a two-fold transaction. My theory is that the LSMW is not recognizing the Retirement transaction that occurs in the background and therefore does not save. However, I am new to SAP so I don't know.

 

Has anyone had success or know why my LSMW -> ABUMN will not save during the screen recording? Is there a way to force it to save? Should I upload screen shots of my process? Any help would be greatly appreciated.. let me know what you experts think and I will provide any information necessary.

Asset Accounting - Pending Depretiation Postings

Hi SAP Experts

 

We are receiving a new client and discover the account responsible

has never post the monthly depreciation posting from six month ago

(including months from last fiscal year).

 

Of course it is certainly an administrative issue and training subject.

 

However I would like to know it is possible to post the pending "depreciation amount" (from several months)

to the current fiscal year and period.

 

I do not like to open the past fiscal year just to run the depreciation run on closed periods.

 

I only want to post the "accumulated" depreciation posting to the current month.

 

It is that possible?

 

I think I could:

1. Change the depreciation key to manual


2. Post the pending depreciation amount with a manual depreciation posting (ABMA)

This will post a AA document


3. Run the depreaciation run

This will post the FI document with reference to the AA document


4. Return the original depreciation key (the lineal one)


5. Run the deprecation run normally (now each month as should to be).

 

This is the correct approach to solve this?

BSEG table not updating Asset number in (ALNL1)

Hi Experts,

 

My client wants the value posted in currency translation GL based on individual asset number.

When I checked it in BSEG I come to know that asset number field in the BSEG is not field.

When I tried to execute FAGLL03 also for currency translation GL ,definitely it will not be there as it is not in BSEG.( I have attached a excel file with example)

 

So my question is how to get asset value in BSEG-ALNL1 field for currency translation GL??

change of Dep key

Hi,

 

While change dep key for an asset it run with warning key and after then error key, we want to 100% deprecation for an asset.

 

Warning Message: "Dep key D162 should no longer be changed "

                               "Enter d dep key with "Deprectiation by days" such as D162"

Depreciation of the asset based on change over

Dear All,

 

We have defined depreciation key as below,

we are changing the depreciation key from WDV to SLM (percentage based). We want system to calculate difference of these percentage from date of acquisition. so we are updating the difference up to fiscal year start through unplanned and Write up method. and system is calculating the difference for the current year automatically.

 

Now when we created the depreciation key  as above screen shot. Now for some of the cases which has useful life system is calculating the depreciation correctly. but for some of the cases (cases which ends useful life in the current year ). For these cases system not even calculating the difference automatically for the current year ( for posted). See below screen here useful life is ending in period 10, but system is not depreciating fully in period 10 it is carry forward balance to the next year.

HANA Parallel Ledger Asset Accounting (Message no. ACC_AA096)

Now I configure parallel Ledger in S/4 HANA, and I define 0L is leading Ledger and Z2 is standard Ledger not extension Ledger;

 

1.when I configure  depreciation areas ,I want to assign 1 depreciation area  to 0L Ledger ,another  to Z2 Ledger

just like below picture

2.I find out SAP requires me choose 'area posts in real  time' when I select Z2 Leger,otherwise error will  occur ,if  I choose 'area posts  in real time',I

can save this configuration,but when I create assets master data  using AS01,the error occur again ,remind me the area 30 configuration is wrong that I can't choose 'area posts in real time '

3. Now I want to change configuration ,change 30 depreciation area Ledger to 0L and want to test other ways , the system reminds me  I haven't active Z2 Ledger just like blow,

but I have entered document in Z2 Ledger using FB01L, I think Z2 Ledger configuration has  no problem

Profit Center Derivation in AuC Line Item

Hi Team,

 

We have Investment Profile configured, where in AuC gets automatically created in background with WBS Release.

 

Step 1: While settlement from WBS to AuC, Profit Center remains blank under Entry View for AuC Line (GL View = Inheritance from the Exp Line)

Step 2: Settlement from AuC to FA, Profit Center remains blank under Entry view for AuC Line (GL View = Inherits from the FA Line)

 

Mismatch occurs in the Step 2.

 

Ex.:

 

CJ03 - WBS - AAAA - Profit Center = 1001

 

Settlement - WBS to AuC - CJ88

 

Entry View:

 

CWIP A/c. Dr.                    1000 - WBS ELement - Blank - PC - Blank

to Exp. A/c. dr.                  1000 - WBS Element - AAAA - PC - 1001

 

GL View:

How to determine Profit Center in Entry View during 1st settlement run from WBS to AuC?

Account Determination Object - ACSET - are active for WBS Element also.

Value Adjustment in Assets

Hi,

 

We are having a scenario where we need to reduce the depreciation value that has already been posted for a specific dep area. we have two dep area's 01 and 20. We realized that we would not need dep for 20. We have made the GL adjustment entries but it does not reflect in Asset subledger.

We want to see if there is a way to do reduce the amount just in Asset subledger. Can we use Value adjustment for this purpose. can you also let me know the appropriate way to post the value adjustment without posting to GL.

Error in CJ88 for profit center

Dear Experts,

 

 

Greetings...

 

 

We are facing one issue in WBS settlement CJ88. We are getting error "Balancing field "Profit Center" in line item 001 not filled". This error we are getting when settling AUC to Final asset. From WBS to AUC there is no error. We have checked previous postings, and all are posted fo final asset witout errors. Present scenario one difference is there. Customer wants to post to final asset which has different business area from AUC. Here I am unable to understand, why profit center error coming because of business area difference. For your information business area is not mandatory in splitting characteristics. When I change the business area to same as AUC, then settlement is happenning.

 

I have searched forum also and found not suitable due to below issues:

 

1. ACSET are activate for WBS also, still error s there.

 

2. Create AUC asset APC GL as cost element type 90. Here error gone but there is    difference in WBS balance araising because of WBS flowing in         final settlement    entry and client do not want the same.

 

Please suggest to solve the same

Asset Value Date Determination When Posting Through Purchase Order

1. Business Requirement:when we are acquiring the Asset from purchase order with account assignment category “A”, for some cases the goods are received from the vendor in the current month but the invoice receipt will come in the next period (i.e. goods receipts in January and invoice receipt in March). Till the time accounting department receives the invoice they can’t post the goods receipt (that means next period but actually the goods received at the company’s location in February only.

The purchasing department will do the Goods receipts once Finance department get the invoice from vendor (i.e. GR done in March). So now the asset value date would be the posting date on which the goods receipt was posted. So the depreciation will be calculated on this asset from period based on the period control in the depreciation key and asset value date.

When the goods receipt is posted in the system, the Asset value date would be the posting date of the Goods receipt document which is March 2016 in the mentioned scenario. So as per the period control from depreciation key (most of the cases it would be 01 for acquisitions which means Pro rata at period start date -the depreciation is calculated from start of the period with value date period from which the asset is posted). But actually the asset is in our company’s premises from previous period so the depreciation should be calculated starting from previous period

2. Artifacts about Company code:

The company code uses Fiscal year variant as Oct. – Sep. with 12 periods and 4 special periods which is a year dependent fiscal year with the below configuration.

3. Artifacts about Dep. key:

The dep. Key is a straight line based and its dep. to the day (which means the dep. is calculated based on the no of days in the period, it will vary with no of days in a period)

4. Analysis and Solution proposed:

Asset value date getting picked up as GR posting date because of customization in SAP Asset accounting on how the Asset value date should be calculated.

The screenshot for the same is below.

Here you have a standard variant for determining default asset value date

If you select the variant and click on Business transaction.

The business transaction responsible for the asset value date determination in our case is Acquisition

Here we can maintain the different selection criteria. The selection criteria which can be maintained are as follows.

We need to assign this variant to the company code. That is done in the same configuration step as shown below.

If there is no variant assigned for a company code means the standard SAP variant which is SAP_DEFAULT will be considered.

 

So for all the company codes above shown will take SAP_DEFAULT as variant for determining the Asset value date.

 

Solution: we can copy this variant and save as a new variant Z variant and for the business transaction Acquisition the primary rule can be maintained as 04 (Earlier of either document or posting date (if different fiscal year: posting date) and the secondary rule is empty.

Then assign this rule to company code where we facing the above problem and save it.

Now if we do a GR for Purchase order in the current period with the current period as posting date the depreciation would be posted but actually it should be posted from previous period because the goods are in premises from previous period for which we are liable to do depreciation from previous period

In March period end the depreciation is posted for the acquired asset for months March, February and January.

In Normal scenario where we are using the standard variant the system will only post March month’s depreciation amount. It doesn’t contain depreciation for February and January period.

 

4.Testing performed:

    • For performing the testing, we need two new assets

    The Two assets created are 28213 and 28214

      • Then we need to create purchase order and goods receipt with standard variant for asset value determination with one asset from which we have created.

    The Purchase order created for the standard variant scenario is 4500001857

    When we post the goods receipt for this P.O. The material document created for this is 5000002008.

    The document posted is having document date as previous period and posting date as current period but when we check the value date in Asset document it shows 02nd Mach 2016.

    Let us say the Goods are received in previous period and invoice is received in current period.

    If you go and see the asset document, you can find that the Asset value date is 02nd Mach 2016 the period would be 6 in our case

    III. We need to create a purchasing order and goods receipt with the ZTEST variant for asset value determination with the second asset.

    Change the configuration, assign ZTEST to company code 1000.

     

     

    The purchase order created for testing this scenario is 4500001858

    When we post the Goods receipt as 01st January 2016(period 5) as document date and 02nd March 2016(period 6) as posting date. The material document created is 5000002009

    If we check the Asset document in accounting documents, one can see the Asset value date is 01/01/2016(period 5)

    • Now compare both the plans in AW01N for both assets, we can see the difference.

     

    For asset 28214 the dep. is calculated from period 4(from date 01/01/2016) and shows to be posted amount as 14,136.99-

    For asset 28213 the dep. is calculated from period 6 (date 3rd March 2016) hence we can see the amount as 4,109.59- in AW01N in to be posted.

    5. Observation:

      For the second asset which is acquired with ZTEST variant for asset value date determination, the deprecation amount would be more than the first asset which is acquired with standard variant SAP_DEFAULT

    Wrong IT Block depreciation

    Hi All,

     

    First of all thanks for my previous post which I have resolved with the tips given by participants.

    Need your advise since I am doing one implementation and as per IT block concept I have configured the IT configuration.

    The only issue I am facing is I am uploading the asset block value let says 1000000 on 01.04.2015 @10% = 10000

    In this case system is calculating the 100% depreciation for assets used for more than 180 days. but when I am updating the acquisition for assets which are having 50% depreciation system is still calculating the full depreciation. system should calculate 50% depreciation in this case but it not the case.

     

    doing asset adjustment for 20000 on 10.12.2015 @ 10% still system is calculating 3000 (full depreciation), it should calculate 1500 depreciation.

     

    I can see that I have configured the IT depreciation here I have mentioned period 6 for October to march. I have no idea what should be the reason for this.

    I have activated the business function as given in the SAP note: 738919 and did the configuration as given in the note, still I am facing the same issue.

     

    Can you guide me what can e the reason for this so that I can resolve this issue.

    AS91 dep key and planned useful life issue

    Hello experts

     

    We are currently transferring thousands of assets from a company our customer has acquired.

    Everything is working perfect with the LSMW for AS91.

    Everything except the fact that the dep keys and planned useful life of the assets created (in test environment) are the ones coming by defaut from the asset class and note the ones from the source files. If I look in the converted file (we used idoc due to high volume of assets), I can see the right depreciation area and useful life but finally when the asset is created the system has taken the default value from asset class.

    I have tested the same thing by doing AS91 manually for one asset and I am able to overwrite the default value coming from the asset class.

     

    Any idea what could be the issue?

    FI-AA Transaction ASKBN -> Reverse postings???

    Hi All,

     

    I have executed the transaction ASKBN. Now, I have to reverse the postings which are posted in the non-leading ledger.

    Does anybody knows how the postings could be reversed?

    Transaction FB08 = Reverse accounting document: FB08 is not possible because original document was not posted in financial accounting.

    Transaction AB08 = Other asset document : By transaction AB08 the reversal is also not possible.

     

    Please help.

    AUC: Cutover Date issue

    Dear All,

     

    Our go live date is 31.03.2016. So, we have put 31.03.2016  in asset config as well .

     

    Now I am able to take entire balance such as AR, AP, GL, Material, and Normal asset on 31.03.2016 except AUC/CWIP assets.  But System is not allowing to take date as 31.03.2016 for Assets under construction. It post AUC/CWIP assets on 01.04.2016. In this case I will not be able to match balance sheet on 31.03.2016.

     

    Client can never understand and agree to partial balance sheet upload on 31.03.2016 and remaining on 01.04.2016.

     

    Why SAP does not allow 31.03.2016 for AUC. If it has check of first day of the fiscal year then it should be in Normal asset as well.

     

     

    How such situation is handled? Please help.

    India Tax depreciation key & Fiscal Year Variant

    Hi Gurus,

     

    I am involved in fixed asset project in India, I have some doubts on tax depreciation. The rules under companies act for tax depreciation are divided into two categories.

     

    1. The asset acquired before October will be depreciated @ 100% rate and a depreciation key with Written Down Method is required ( WDM) to define and assign to those assets.
    2. The assets acquired after October will be depreciated @50% rate and another depreciation key with (WDM) is required.

     

     

        My question is how to assign a default depreciation key in the config. on asset class level that satisfy both the scenarios? When user creates an asset the depreciation key gets defaulted from asset class level and user don't need to assign it manually in AS01.  The other thing I need to clear is fiscal year variant , Our Indian company reporting requirement is from April-March fiscal year for tax depreciation where as our parent company uses fiscal year variant from November-December.

     

    How to handle this fiscal year variant in asset config. for tax depreciation. Any input will be much appreciated.Thanks

    Asset Creation through Ariba for SAP ECC6 EHP6 -

    Currently we have the cloud version of Ariba and are running ECC6 EHP6. 

     

    The challenge is creating fixed assets in Ariba and having them flow into SAP.  What is occurring is each line created in Ariba creates a single asset number in SAP.  The goal is to have one asset number for multiple lines from Ariba Purchase Order into SAP.

     

    Currently this is being done outside of Ariba and we are able to accomplish multiple lines on a Purchase Order to one Asset number.  

     

    Is anyone using Ariba cloud and SAP ECC6 able to accomplish this or does anyone have any suggestions or can share what they are doing in these instances, whether inside or outside of Ariba.

     

    I would like to see if others have tried and failed, I need to report back to management on best option.
