Use of same asset class for multiple chart of depreciation

$
0
0

If you have multiple chart of depreciation and same asset class is used but there is no configuration done for chart of depreciation dependent.  So in this case, the account determination which is used in the asset class will have impact on all chart of depreciation. Hence, change of any GL accounts in AO90 transaction for the account determination is not good as it will impact all the chart of depreciation.

Let’s take an example,

Asset class is 110 (Buildings) and Account determination (A110) is configured for this asset class.

Chart of depreciation is CDIN (India) and CDFR(France).

The asset class 110 is both used by India and France. Now there was a problem to change the GL accounts in the account determination level.

Normally, for each asset class , there is an account determination is configured but remember that, the account determination is not specific to any chart of depreciation. So this account determination is applicable for all chart of depreciation. Please refer the screen shot below

screen shot 1.jpg

So best way to do in SAP is that to configure the chart of depreciation dependent data. So in this case, they can have the different accounts for which they require as per the country and it will be specific to the chart of depreciation.

Go to the below menu path and select specify account determination

screen shot 2.jpg

Create a new account determination for India and France as we have different chart of depreciation.

screen shot 3.jpg

After creating the new account determination, go to the transaction code ANK1 and select the particular asset class, then click on “chart of depreciation –dependent data”

Screen shot 4.jpg

Here, click on new entries

Enter the chart of depreciation and new account determination. So that, this will be specific for this chart of depreciation.

screen shot 5.jpg

The different GL accounts can be maintained for the same asset class by way of using chart of depreciation dependent data. I would like to recommend this to implement this at the initial stage if there is a multiple chart of deprecation.

Remember, the account determination is not specific to any chart of deprecation unless it is defined in the chart of deprecation dependent configuration.

De-Capitalization of assets in IFRS Ledger

Hi

there is one asset as on 31st Dec 2010 with Cost: Rs.1000, Acc Depn: Rs.200 and WDV: Rs.800

Now it should be inventoried as current asset w.e.f 1st April 2010. So need to de-capitalize it and transfer it to inventory (stores spares) w.e.f 1st April 2010  on for IFRS

What i did:

1. Created one transaction type and restricted to IFRS depn area

2. Gave depn key to "0000" to nullify the effect of depreciation for 9 mnths

Now if i use the transaction type i defined, will it help to post my requirement of decapitalizing in IFRS ledger only?

Entry Should be:

IFRS Stores A/c.. Dr (GL account)

   To Asset A/c (recon a/c)

Depreciation simulation offset for direct acquisitions

We are using INternal Orders for capital acquisitions and setting up the depreciation simulation information in the Order.  Some of the assets are settled from the Order and some are posted directly to the asset with a statistical posting to the Order.  The settlements offset the depreciation simulation line items but the direct acquisitions do not resulting in open actuals that are allocated to the depreciation simulation line items ratably.  Is there a way to offset particular line items for the depreciation simulation so there is no open actuals?

AFAR/AW01N - Change of depreciation key does not recalculate the planned depreciation

$

Dear SAP guru,

I am facing the issue that,  for one specific asset only,  the planned depreciation amount does not get recalculated after changing the depreciation key.

The system first generated a warning message – AU390 Values for &3 have changed in dep. area &1 in fiscal year &2, suggesting that Depreciation recalculation program AFAR to be to run.

Then we ran AFAR to recalculate the planned depreciation amount, however, the amount has not been recalculated as well as tried to recalculate via AW01N. Interestingly, though, in Display Depreciation > Depreciation term within AW01N Planned value tab, the depreciation key is still the old depreciation key (the one I changed from in AS02).  Now I have changed the depreciation key to even another one, warning message AA191 comes up, but yet the system does not recalculate the planned depreciation amount.

Would you please guide me how to figure out what causes this specific asset not to be recalculated even after changing depreciation terms or is there any specific condition in order to be subject to the planned depreciation recalculation at asset level?

Also if you know if there is any specific Class/Program that would determine the recalculation of planned depreciation amount, that would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance.

Taro

Asset not picked up in AFAB

Hello experts,

When we run tcode AFAB, several assets were not picked up hence depreciation was not posted. Based from the useful life, remaining useful life, depreciation key (straight line) and the current NBV of asset, it should continue to be depreciated. One thing we noticed for those assets that were not picked up was in FY 2016, all the values under Planned Values (AW01N) like NBV are all blank. Also, the expired useful life of asset was reset to zero in FY 2016 although the expired useful life in FY 2015 is 1yr and 08 months (useful life is 10 yrs). The remaining useful in FY2016 should reflect as 8yrs and 4months but instead its 10 years. We just though that this maybe the reason.

Any known reasons why this happen and any possible solution for this?

Thanks!

Jack

Different FY versions for different depreciation area

$

Hi Experts,

We use non-calendar FY version Z1 for the entire group. The last day of FY version is always the last Friday of September. (Eg: FY15 end with Sept. 25th)

For Thailand legal reporting, they calculates depreciation by day and their legal calendar is from Oct. 1st to Sept. 30th. (Z3)

Due to system constraint, I can't set different FY version for dep. areas with different start date and end data.

We set FY version blank for all dep. areas (Group dep. & Local dep.). Therefore, FY version for FA is also Z1.

In order to fulfill Thailand legal reporting, we have to calculate dep. amount from Sept. 26th to Sept. 30th manually.

Are there any reports which can help with this?

Or are there any other settings can solve this gap?

Thanks in advance

Emma

Adding a new depreciation area (RAFABNEW)

Hi,

I am trying to add a new depreciation area by programa RAFABNEW. The new depreciation area is created for inflation, so it does not manage acquisition values. According to this definition is not possible to define a transfer APC value (Tcode OABC) because the depreciation area does not manage APC values, so the field in Tcode OABC is in grey.

The tcode OABD is completed.

The inflation is going to be executed by TCODE J1AI.

The program rafebnew is run with the flag "leave values initial"

When The RAFABNEW is run for adding the new depreciation area (10) the system shows the following error message:

define depreciation area correctly"

"Depreciation area 10, which you want to create as a new depreciation area in chart of depreciation XXXX, has no depreciation area for value takeover. This may be correct for normal operation, however for the purpose of creating a new depreciation area in the productive sytem you hace to enter a depreciation area whose values are used as base values for the new area"

AUC: Cutover Date issue

Dear All,

Our go live date is 31.03.2016. So, we have put 31.03.2016  in asset config as well .

Now I am able to take entire balance such as AR, AP, GL, Material, and Normal asset on 31.03.2016 except AUC/CWIP assets.  But System is not allowing to take date as 31.03.2016 for Assets under construction. It post AUC/CWIP assets on 01.04.2016. In this case I will not be able to match balance sheet on 31.03.2016.

Client can never understand and agree to partial balance sheet upload on 31.03.2016 and remaining on 01.04.2016.

Why SAP does not allow 31.03.2016 for AUC. If it has check of first day of the fiscal year then it should be in Normal asset as well.

How such situation is handled? Please help.

Error in CJ88 for profit center

$

Dear Experts,

Greetings...

We are facing one issue in WBS settlement CJ88. We are getting error "Balancing field "Profit Center" in line item 001 not filled". This error we are getting when settling AUC to Final asset. From WBS to AUC there is no error. We have checked previous postings, and all are posted fo final asset witout errors. Present scenario one difference is there. Customer wants to post to final asset which has different business area from AUC. Here I am unable to understand, why profit center error coming because of business area difference. For your information business area is not mandatory in splitting characteristics. When I change the business area to same as AUC, then settlement is happenning.

I have searched forum also and found not suitable due to below issues:

1. ACSET are activate for WBS also, still error s there.

2. Create AUC asset APC GL as cost element type 90. Here error gone but there is    difference in WBS balance araising because of WBS flowing in         final settlement    entry and client do not want the same.

Please suggest to solve the same

Thanks in Advance

Transaction Type not displayed in AS93 when adding Proportional Values using LSMW - FIXEDASSET_CREATEINCLVALUES03

I am using LSMW to transfer Legacy Asset Data through BAPI FIXEDASSET_CREATEINCLVALUES03.

I need to enter Proportional Values for Transaction Type 200.

The problem is that when I am including the proportional values, the Transaction is not displayed in AS93/AS92 even if it has been created in table ANEP and ANEA for the proportional values.

However if I do not include the Proportional Values, the Transaction can be found in AS92 / AS93 for the Asset created (without any proportional values of course)

Has anyone encountered this problem before and how did you solve it?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

It is quite urgent.

Change of Cost center for Assets --- AS02

Hi,

I have one asset 1234. for that Already we closed the year 2008.

In the Asset master we are using Cost Center -- ABCD, but from 2009.04.01 m i want to change the Cost Center -- XYZ. For that i tried to change the cost center in following way;

1. In AS02-- Time independent data-- i enter the new interval effective from 2009.04.01 then i was saving the asset master,

But while saving one error Msg is coming

"Automatic Transfer is not Possible for Asset 1234. "

Details of SAP message :

"   Automatic transfer is not possible for asset E8 840200000066-0

    Message no. AMOC 001

Diagnosis

You changed assignments to organizational units for asset E8

840200000066-0. The indicator for 'time-independent organizational

units' is set for this company code in Asset Accounting Customizin

This means that the system is supposed to create a transfer docume

    automatically.

However, asset E8 840200000066-0 manages one of the following:

    o   Open items

    o   Investment measures

    o   Down payments

Therefore, the system could NOT automatically create a transfer document. "

So please tell me , How can i change the Cost center in Asset Master.

Fixed asset values not displayed in local GAAP (dep area-2)

Hi,

We have some assets where their asset class is Land(no depreciation). Let me tell you as example, we have 4 assets(A, B, C, D) under asset class of Land.  We have local GAAP dep area in addition to Book depreciation. A, B fixed assets  acquisition values updated in Book dep area and Local GAAP dep area, but C, D asset acquisition values not updated in Local GAAP. But updated in Book depreciation.

What we noticed, For C, D assets values are not getting updated since starting of assets acquired. These assets acquisition done in 1980.  I have observed that legacy data values(Take over values) not updated for local GAAP dep area also during legacy data transfer.  I believe in that this is the main reason for local GAAP values not updating to particular assets.

Now client wants to update acquisiton values to local GAAP dep area. I would like to know what to be done in this case as there is problem from many years.

Thank you in advance.

Asset Depreciation Key, Useful Life, Depreciation Expense, Depreciated Too Early

$

Hi Folks,

I hope all is well. Your CSUS College Student back at it again with another question. I work for the State too and they messed up their Depreciation Key when creating Assets. Now, I have to figure out how to fix deprecation for Assets.

Originally Assets were created with Depreication key LINR. LINR, regardless of the month that the Asset is purchased in, depreciates the first year in full and then uses the straightline method to calculate deprecation moving forward.

We updated the configuation and changed the deprecation key to ZINA, ZINA uses the straightline method from the month that the Asset was purchased and depreciates it monthly using the straightline method. This is what we want.

So, 1 solution is to Retire all of the Assets that have the LINR deprecation key and do a complex posting to the new assets using the ZINA deprecation key. However, this process was ruled out. We don't want to retire the Assets to fix them.

Now, we have Assets that have Depreciated too much. And, we have Assets that have fully depreciated when in actuality they still have a useful life. So, my question is how do we debit the asset (GL 2349009700) and credit Depreciation Expense (9033245118).

For Example: Asset 9700000000, Capitalized on 6/15/2012 for $6,245.79 with a 3 year useful life is fully depreciated. The correct useful life is 10 years. So, this Asset is not supposed to fully depreciate until 6/1/2022. As of today it should have 74 more months before it fully depreciates and it should be depreciating at 52.04825 on a monthly basis (6,245.79 divided by 120 months). How do I post $3,851.57 (74 months * 52.05) back to the Asset so it can continue depreciating at the normal monthly rate?

Thanks in advance! Let me know if I need to provide any additional information.

Several issues with adding new Depreciation Area in existing ChoD

$

0

I have created a new Depreciation area following the standard customizing steps and then executed AFBN and AFAR. It has been created as Real dep area that does not post to G/L.

All customizing settings are correct following the bussines requirement. Customizing tcodes/tables have been maintained correctly. OABC, OADB, OABD etc.

Now, the problems that I have faced so far are:

1. AFBN was copying the depreciation keys from Dep Area 01 not from OAYZ. I managed to overcome this issue by copying the RAFABNEW program to a Z one and deactivating a couple of lines. Actually I followed the suggestion from another post here.

2. I could not delete and replicate AFBN in D11. Again, I have found a function module that I picked up from a similar post here. It deletes everything and I can repeat AFBN.

Also minor problems here and there.

The main problem that I face however is the system error message:

SYST: You cannot change the depreciation periods

Message no. AA662

The source of the problem seems to be the fact that the existing Dep key in Dep area 01 calculates depreciation to date. T090NA-XDAILY is flagged. The same field is not flagged for the Dep Key that I use for the new Dep Area.

This somehow results in setting 365 as the value for T095B-PERFY for the new dep area as well. In my view it should not.

I have tried running AFBN both ways. Meaning option "Leave values Initial" flagged and  not flagged and I am always ending up getting the error message in AS02 for the least.

There exist a number of notes addressing this error and a detailed wiki as well:

Error message AA662 You cannot change the depreciation periods - ERP Financials - SCN Wiki

However, none of these seems to be helpfull. Any inputs ideas are welcome!

Specify Other Versions on Depreciation Area Level Not work

Hi Expert,

I'd like to use Specify Other Versions on Depreciation Area Level in system. I set FYV Z1  and ZZ with start date and end date. (Ex: FY2011, Sept. 29th 2011 to Sept. 28th 2015 Non-calendar date)

Z1201292812ZZ201292812

Dep. area 01 use Z1. (Same as FYV in company code. therefore, the setting is blank.)

Dep. area 38 use Z1. (Same as FYV in company code. therefore, the setting is blank.)

Dep. area 40 use ZZ. (For local legal dep.)

Dep. area 38 and 40 use the same dep. key Z005 (dep. to the day).

But the plan dep. amount for P1, FY15 for dep. area 38 and 40 still the same. (from Sept. 29th 2011 to Oct. 28th 2011)

That mean system still use FYV Z1 to calculate plan amount for dep. area 40.

I checked through config. many times, but can't found anything wrong and didn't find any related examples in SDN discussion.

Am I missing any setting?

Thanks

Dear Experts,

I have searched the forum but still I know that I was aware of.

I have to change a gl in a account determination. this gl is for impairment. This gl has not been posted yet. but this account determination is already used for multiple assets.

Can I change this GL (this gl is not posted yet) in account determination? what are consequesnces?

The gl which I will change will be effective for only future assets or also for already created assets?

I want to change GL without creating new asset class and account determination. This is urgent guys.

RAGITT_ALV01 depreciation posted for the year wrong

$

Hi all,

I am having this problem and seem to not be able to fix it. When running report S_ALR_87011990 or AR01, with depreciation posted flag, if we select a specific asset, the depreciation for the year is correctly displayed.

Asset  SNo. CoCode  Asset description                      Cap.dateClassAccnt: APC   Cost Ctr WBS Element -Costs   APC FY start  Dep. FY start Bk.val.FY strtAcquisi  Dep. for yea

100000013   0XX01VR 40001731700110010   870096                         170,000.00 56,666.64-113,333.36  0.00 9,444.45-

If we run the same report, with Depreciation posted flag, but with no specific asset selected, the depreciation for the year is higher. It seems the report adds up the accumulated depreciation for the year and the ordinary depreciation for the period before the legacy data transfer but that makes no sense since in table ANLC, the accumulated depreciation already includes the depreciation for the year before the legacy data transfer.

Asset  SNo. CoCode  Asset description                      Cap.dateClassAccnt: APC   Cost Ctr WBS Element -Costs   APC FY start  Dep. FY start Bk.val.FY strtAcquisi  Dep. for yea

  100000013   0XX01VR 40001731700110010   870096                         170,000.00 56,666.64-113,333.36  0.0014,166.68-

Is there something I'm missing or an SNOTE that I might have overlooked (I have checked lots of notes and none have been successful).

Thank you in advance,
